  • Sunroof blind removal

Does anyboy know how to remove the sliding blind from a glass runroof? I want to re-trim it but can't work out how to remove it. This guide shows you how to remove it from a steel sunroof, but the one in the glass roof is different, it has a grab handle and vents in which mean it will not slide out like in the guide.

    Andy,

I fear its has to come out of the top once the sunroof panel has been removed. Its like that on the factory fit glass roof on the C4 and indeed the Webasto aftermarket one ()! See link:

Isn't the blind part of the actual cartridge on the glass ones, i.e. you'd need to remove it from the car to get it out? That's how it appears from the pictres anyway

To remove the glass panel, open the sunroof and remove the 2 screws circled here, then remove the six T20 torx screw mentioned in the link above.

The blind panel is held on a track by four sliders which are sprung, to remove the panel gently lever them back and the panel will lift out

          Leaving you with this

The plastic vent panel is held in place with six T10 torx screws

Remove this and the four sliders

And start peeling off the old material

My panel had some damage where it had been pulled open and closed

So I cut two pieces of 1mm aluminium and used Alradite to glue them in place to make a repair, once painted black they'll hardly be noticable

Whilst I had it out I removed the sunroof seal and wire brished all the rust off the frame and treated it with Kurust.

          Panel ready for new material

Spray with contact adhesive and carefully lay the cloth in place

Trim the edges and fold over the back

          Done!

The plastic grab handle was primed and painted satin black

          Final re-fit

Top tips if your going to attemp this
          1. Get a good pair of sissors
          2. Get a scalpel with new blades
          3. Keep washing your hands as you go along. If you get glue or grease from the sunroof mechanism on your new cloth it will ruin it.

Good job done there Andy and a nice write up and pics

I spent hours today swapping out my sunroof cartridge, interior trim and headlining. I should have taken a few pics but it took me hours without considering documenting the process

                Thanks Andy
This write up is going to be a great help when I do my own.
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2
