Dampness Smell in the Interior of urS6 ? Cure ?

In my urS6 Avant, the main carpet and front seats as well as the base of the back seat are all removed following a leak into the car's carpet.

There is still a very sting foul odour of dampness / awfulness inside the car that I would like to cure before putting the car's interior back together.

Any ideas on how to deal with it would be gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance.

Remove carpet (not a fun job and dry inside the house). Dry out interior with the carpet out.

    No quick solutions.

I have read that a pan of Baking Soda left in the car can pull get rid of odour. If carpet is dry you could sprikle baking soda on it leave it a few hours and vacuum.
Activated charcoal can pull odour too.

If you think something may still be holding moisture then shut a dehumidifier in it for a few days.

The foam is really thick under the carpet and can hold quite a bit of water.

Agreed, it did, it was very much heavier on the wet drivers side, but it's being hang up under free flowing air car port, so it's now dry including the sponge underlay.

But is needs to be professionally shampooed and then dried again. I was pretty dirty after 16 years use, and smelt a bit before the leak tbh.

Not in a hurry, so can wait for the carpet to be cleaned and then dried, but will try the baking soda on the interior of the car as stated to deal with the residual smell which is still very much in the fairly stripped out interior.
