    Dashboard weight reduction?

I pulled the dash out of my car so I could get the last bits of sound deadening removed and paint the inside of the car etc.

As I was lifting it out I was gob smacked at how heavy the bloody thing is. I'll weigh it at some point but I'm guessing its 20kg! (According to my gym arm haha)

I'd rather run the car with a dash so the blower still works and clears the screen etc but it needs to go on a diet before it goes back into the car.

    Has anyone tackled this before?

    Cheers!

The dash is made of a pressed steel sheet and bonded foam either side. You'll be able to remove some weight by scraping the foam off the underside of the steel, leaving the top looking the same. Its still going to be a heavy old chunk. Other option is a make a fibreglass mould
