Mould on Leather - Preventation ?

How do you stop mould forming on a s car with a leather interior that is not being used and is parked in the open. i.e. it gets wet when it rains, but the car has no leaks and the carpets are dry.

But condensation forms on the inside of the front windscreen and the rear window.

    Does my head in.

    Any comments to assist welcome.

    Thanks.

The recirc flap is supposed to close when the car is off, sealing (more or less) the interior from the exterior, read "cool damp air, etc.". I suspect that yours is stuck open.

Once you get that fixed, you could run an extension cord to the car an use a caged incandescent 40W bulb trouble lamp to keep a small amount of heat in the car.

Even with the recirc flap fixed and shut, the interior air is still connected to the exterior via a vent behind the rear bumper as shown below:

      Try something like this

Or if you want a decent homemade solution, fill a couple of socks with silica cat litter, tie off and stick them on the dash. Not sure how long you are leaving your car, might need to be replenished/checked every few days but should help significantly.

Nothing beats using a car but being the owner of a daily driven Seat Leon and the owner of an S2 Coupe, I know all about leaky cars.

You git Chris ha ha. Bloody coffin carriers always ready to twist the knife into us poor Coupe owners. My coupe is pretty good but the same cannot be said about the Leon.

Yeah I have dehumidifier sacks in all our cars, its really nice not having to demist the windscreen.
They need replenishing every couple of weeks. You can dry them out in the oven

Agree re the cat litter, make sure its the silica stuff not the normal litter, and fill up the ends of some womens stockings ( not fishnets, obviously unless you like that sort of thing ...I mean loose cat litter in the car ) rather than socks , chuck them all round the car, footwells, boot ...after a week or so dry them on a radiator indoors .
I have heard some say that they scatter loose litter on the carpets , hoover it up after a week
I'd give your leather a good going over with something like Gliptone too every 3-4 months , stops mould getting a hold , and prevents cracking
