White to black gauges

So my three s2s are all suffering from the age old peeling faces
Has anyone tried fitting black fronts as they never seem to peel?
I have a few sets that have correct 160mph speedo, the revs don't red line at the same point but I have ears and know when to change gear.
Only thinking of the face swaps not the mechanisms

Often thought about going black.

As the white ones don't light that well for me. Need to change my bulbs.

Why not change the whole 'unit' rather than just the face of the gauges. Would that not be 'easier' ?
