Hello, I post this thread to better show my DIY.
I'm 6-2", 1,82 mt for non UK members, and I feel the driving position of the RS2 and B4s in general a bit uncomfortable, because I'm used to the full adjustment steering wheel of A6/S6 that is totaly missing on the B4s.
Dropping the steering wheel down is impossible. Even with custom mods. At least it is if you don't wont to modify the bottom part of the dashboard, under the wheel. Otherwise you can fit some washers on the bolts that hold the steering column to the chassis, but you have to drive without the plastic panel under the steering wheel, or fit a custom made cover somehow.
What I did compensate the lack of telescopic adjustment of the OEM steering wheel. I made an adaptor with male and female spline that you can fit between the steering column and the steering wheel, and it makes the wheel come 5 cm closer to the driver.
The airbag wires are long enough to be reconnected without extending them by cutting and welding.
Those 5 cm improve the driving position dramatically: you can slide the seat backward of some cm (a pair of inches) and gain room for your legs, which, for 6ft+ tall people, can be very comfortable. No more frog/style driving, and much more comfort in press the clutch pedal especially in traffic.
The mod is reversible as is all bolted.
The driving position is the same as when you fit an aftermarket steering wheel, but you keep horn and airbag working, also without giving up the OEM look and the wonderful Audi 3 spoke steering wheel.
Also, seen that the Audi spline is the same as Porsche spline, you can fit Porsche wheels on the car, always keeping airbag and horn working.
For example, if you have an RS2 you can fit a 996 steering wheel, as I did in the pics on an S2. The wheel in the pics is beige, but there are plenty black wheels available out there. You can even find porsche steering wheel with airbag, narrow diameter and thicker crown.
