Heated seats (well, they should be)

    Hey folks,

After 3 weeks of S2 ownership, I am still left with on niggling fault.....the drivers heated seat does not work. I know it is not the end of the world, but I want my panzerwagon to be fully functional. Story so far......

    - The passenger seat heats OK, which elliminates the fuse (shared by both seats)

    - I swapped the dash switched over - passenger still heats, so not the switch then

    - Last nigh I pulled the green plugs under the seats and measured the Volts to find them both the same (a strange combination of 9V, 5V and 2V )

I therefore have to assume that it is summut within the seat. I have no idea what is inside a set of leather seats and would rather not find out, but I assume that I now need to.

Anyone BTDT? All clues gratefully accepted.

Sounds like the element has failed. Unfortunately I don't have a clue how to fix it - sorry!

The seat base and backrest elements are connected in series so thats probably why the strange voltages.

The most usual fault is a broken thermistor (temp sensor) in the seat base side element. It's probably only a broken wire. Measure resistance from the thin wires that go to the seat base on each side and this can be confirmed/eliminated.
