Ariel help please.

Hi, im asking this Q as my boyfriend is gonna try n sort it out,
as the reception is really bad.
He has asked me to ask you, "Does the ariel amplify automatically,
or does he need to connect a particular coloured wire to the radio wiring?"

(oh and i have changed the ariel to a little alloy type bee sting one)

Can you also mention any DO's & DONTS for Jimmy's sake (not his) LOL
(he fitted me music & also many other systems/alarms, so is ok at this sort of stuff,
But needs to be sure of this)
as knows i will have him dangling if he breaks it

i had a problem with mine a couple of days ago it was the white wire on the iso which needs to be connected to the ignition wire or remote switch wire on the stereo , reception fantastic now

Illumination, it dims the head unit display when you switch on the lights.

the aerial is a single white wire.
