    Front speaker wiring

Into the 'lions den' or at least 'jamo's den'. I have decided to replace the front speakers only. I am using a Blaupunkt DAB54 Woodstock head unit and have purchased a pair of 4'' infinity kappa combined speakers.
Now on arrival these come with cross-over wiring which I thought would only be the case with component versions.
IIRC the standard front speaker wiring is not cross-over so I presume I will need to use the supplied wiring to the back of the headunit ?? If so is this difficult once the headunit and speakers are out? Do you just tape the new wires to the old ones and pull through or is it more complicated ?
Or am I talking rubbish..........any help would be welcomed as i would rather not start a job that I cannot finish.
I have checked previous posts but clearly no one is as simple as me WRT wiring speakers

Simple enough job mate, the crossover splits the incoming frequency to high and low, I'm presuming the speakers came with a crossover so you should use the existing wiring to the speakers as the crossover input and then wire the xover output to the tweeter and woofer.

Doesn't apply to S2 Coupe or S2 / RS2 Avant no amplication involved in standard form, had this out with another forum member a while back.

              Yeah true,

The saloons have the "Duo sound" with headphone socket on the parcel shelf. You have to by pass that to sort the rear speakers out....

Went to do this. Yes I know its taken ages. However I found a pair of Nokia 4'' speakers instead of OEM. Anyone know if these are any good??

Alistair, Nokia speakers were OE on these cars.

Really never knew that.....................is that true of all S2/RS2. But there seems to be only one screw fixation (I thought two OEM).
Why were Nokia from Finland OEM for a German company ??

AFAIK, yes all S2/RS2 have these as standard. I agree that you would expect that a German car would have all German components, you only have to look at all Audi OE wheels by Speedline to find that they are made in Italy for example. Or the steering wheel, by Personal also from Italy.

Perhap the Nokia parts are made in Germany in spite of being a Finnish company?
                        Who knows .

Parts come from all over the world, no doubt Nokia probably could make the odd size 4" speakers the cheapest for Audi.

If China was in full swing like it is now I'm sure they would be chinese speakers!

Yes it will be partly down to cost.
The day Audi start using Chinese components is the day Audi quality goes down the pan. That's not about to happen any time soon.

                              They already do.

                              For example:
