  • Coupe speaker wiring

    Hello!

Gonna install blaupunkt bremen sqr headunit in my coupe.

Got the car without any headunit.
I'm trying to sort out the wiring to the speakers since im gonna install a amp + sub with the head unit installation. I seem to only find the two speakers in the front from the headunit connector. Found the cables from the rear speakers underneath the backseat, but i'm missing the cables to the side panels in rare seats. Thought i was gonna ask here instead of ripping the side panels out.
Is there a rear amplifier on coupes?

No rear Amp on Coupes, the wiring should run to to the speaker plug.

On my B3 Coupe there is an additional connecter for head unit, that connects the rear speakers. My car have the Nokia rear speakers with a small build in amplifier. New head units don't have this connector, but found an original Audi Delta radio, but as the speakers are completely trashed from age, the sound is still horrible. I will most likely rewire and replace all the speakers once it's ready to get back on the road.

Afternoon all, sorry to hijack this thread but I have a question. I'm in the process of replacing the sound system in my s2 coupe and have audison apk 130 components in the original rear quater and tweeter positions. My issue is wiring, for now I want to use the existing wires but cant work out what each of the three plugs on the original Nokia's are for I'm guessing its a main feed in with some kind of buit in crossover but really have no idea?? picture below for help anyone shead some light on this pls?

The blue/green(+) and brown/red(-) wires going to the plug on the left in the photo are the wires from the head unit.

White/red and brown/white are the feed to the tweeter/treble loudspeaker.

It's a long time since I did what you're doing and remove the Nokia speakers to replace them with something decent. IIRC the other connector was how an electrolytic capacitor was connected in the circuit to the tweeter to act as the high frequency cross-over.

Thanks so I'm guessing that I can bypass that with a conventional cross-over supplied with the new speakers?

                  Cheers

Yes, just bypass it. I cut the connector block off the Nokia speaker and used it to connect my replacement speaker to. My replacement speaker (which was a larger diameter) had a centre mounted tweeter but I also kept the original tweeter and wired it up via a switch in the side pocket so I could choose to have it operational as well or not.

Thank you so much, all the kit has now arrived, the installation has grown arms and legs as these thing can do so I have to find the time to get on with it. The car is going in for a couple of blemishes in the new paint on Monday but I should have it back for next weekend. Pictures of the installation to follow.
