    'ipod' wiring to glovebox

I have an OEM aux wire to my 'ipod' jack plug socket. Is there an easy route the wire from the back of the headunit into the glovebox or do I need to drill a hole ?
    Anyone BTDT ?

I found it really easy to do mine to the shelf under the stering colum, and all you need to do is drill a small hole for the jack to go through.

But now mine runs along the tunnel and out to the center console pocket

Centre console route sounds nice. A socket in the vertical front wall would look subtle...

The wires will run easily from the back of the headunit to the glovebox without drilling..

But but but but that would mean taking a non-standard drill to make a non-standard hole ! Do you approve such radical measures ?

i'd go for the glove box or centre console every time if your head unit has ipod control. different story of it was just a 3.5mm jack and you had to control the tunes from the ipod itself. plenty of room behind the head unit to run the wires behind the glovebox or down behind the gauges and under the edge of the centre console. or to te shelf under the steering column as terrybullwon says. Or you could drill a dirty great hole in the vertical front wall if you want to upset the purists.
Surely ipods should have bluetooth and you could leave it in your pocket or wherever the hell you want? maybe the iphone will have that?

Big hint...... How does the glove box light get power

The glove box is not actually a box, it is a swinging bucket. I would bring the wire to the top of the glove box on the centre column side. Then I would make a spiral of several loops of wire and then attach the other end of the loop to the rear top of the glovebox on the centre column side. - The spiral loop allows for the swinging motion of the glove box as it opens.

You then have 2 choices for the wire: -

                1. Run the wire forwards along the inner top edge of the side wal, by tuching it up under the side lip, where the carpet goes and bring it out at the front.

                2. run the wire down the rear of the glovebox and drill a small hole in the bottom corner and run the wire through, under the carpet to the front. The carpet thus hides the holes from OEM purists

I would then terminal the wire in a socket, which I would attach to the front og the glovebox by removing the screw which holds the handle cover and using a longer screw into that hole, as that looks like the bet place to mount the socket

                Just my 2p worth

                Cheers n
