  • 1000w amps

    http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...rtno=MONOBLOCK

thats a 1000w into 1ohm hows does that work at 14.4v as my physics tells me usen a derivation of ohms law that 14.4^2/1=103.68 theoretical maximum, so my question is how does this amp manage to break a law of physics and that thus to run a 1ohm speaker at 1000w would need √(1000*1)=100v

can anyone explain as im always confused when people say they have massive power outputs from the in car sound systems

Dead easy.... The amp contains a mahoosive DC-DC power supply - say converting nominal 14.4V into 30V or whatever - thats what gives these big power stages the headroom to swing big voltage thru a tiny resistive load.... Only gotcha is the scarey current required to drive the boogers. Not as bad as the 15kW power requirement I was looking at today - but big in car terms - heavy cables man...

I don't like them I can tell the difference although many can't in sound reproduction.

ah that makes sense i was always a tad confused and kinda wondered why the chavs needed to have such heavy cabling
as for the 15kw what was that powering, thats like a whole wind generator isnt it
