    Pioneer multi-changer

Everything's going wrong on my car at once...
On Friday, my Pioneer CDX-M12 multichanger gave up the ghost. The magazine is jammed in with one CD stuck half way in/out of the loading mechanism.

I've tried re-setting the unit and the head unit, disconnected and re-connected the power/data, but to no avail. The eject button doesn't work either. I get an "Error-60" warning on the head unit, which, in the insructions says rather helpfully "return to your Pioneer Dealer".

Does anybody have one of these they don't want anymore and could sell me, or have any advice for fixing it? It's an old CD unit I know, but I need an M-series multichanger to work with my head unit (KEHM8500) which I don't want to have to replace...

    Any advice much appreciated!

My sony 10 disc packed up when I dropped my amp on it. (Don't ask ) It wouldn't reset or eject the magazine etc. It's also an oldish unit but has cd text etc so I'm happy with it.

I was getting close to buying a new one but got bored while I was waiting for Jason to finish some bits he was doing on the car so I took it to pieces.

Not sure how similar it is to a pioneer changer but they are very simple bits of kit inside. Once you open it I would have thought it will be mostly empty space. The mechanism takes up the most space and the electronics are really rather small.

On mine one of the ribbon cables that connects the bus lead to the changer mechanism inside had popped out. Pushed it back in and hey presto.

At the end of the day if it's kaput you aren't going to lose anything by taking it apart and seeing if there is anything obvious wrong with it. It sounds like one of the cd's has jumped out of its tray. If that's all it should be easy enough to fix.

As long as your careful taking it to bits and remember how it fits back together you will be fine. On mine the trickiest bit was hanging the changer mechanism back on it's vibration dampers.

Hope that gives you some inspiration,

    Ben

Well I suppose I ought to get the lid off and have a go... Just don't know where I'd get a replacement if it's really knackered - I've checked ebay and Loot already: a few compatible ones, but only the 6-disc changers. I need an "m-series" from Pioneer, and they're well old now

Ive had a similar problem dan, my sony T70 changer decided it doesnt want to eject toe cartridge anymore, its only 18 months old, plays ok, tried lots of places to see if it is repairable but nowhere wanted to know.
Then i saw on the sony site they have a list of recomended repair places. so its there at the moment. expecting a call tomorrow maybe.
