What size of speakers are you considering?

I think, from other threads that the backs are 5 1/2 and the fronts are 4. All in inches! I think the fronts are also a twist fit too.

yeah i think they are. Ive used blaupunkt's in the back on mine. still have standard fronts at the min.

I had to use some creative engineering to fit standard speakers into the twist fit holes.

It invovled masking off all of the magnet and the cone then sawing the ears off the speaker.

the flange around the basket was just the right depth or near enough so i bent the ears up a little on the door card and twist fitted the new speakers in then to ensure they didnt vibrate i used some silicone sealant mastic type stuff around the edge to hold it nice and tight in the frame and removed all of the masking tape.

Had used the masking to ensure no metal filings got onto speakers etc.

took a couple of hours to do in all. Replaced the tweeters in the back too which was jsut as awkard then fitted the x overs behind the trim.

I did have to cut the connectors off from the OE speakers since they had a weird plug arrangement on the speaker but that was nice and easy to sort out with a multimeter to check connections.

Well, if you insist on keeping the original size.... I thing a setup like that is rather bass weak, the Blaupunkt could use a bigger front set, which actually determines the whole sound in the car. The original set is a Nokia type and less than mediocre in terms of sound quality and power handling, also the tweeter part is a paper cone which is a bit out of date. This original front hole can nicely be filled with the Focal 10cm or the MB Quart 10cm two way speakers, both featuring titanium tweeters and a fine frequency divider. This goes to the rear side panels too, where the 13cm kits could improve the originally dull sound. The DAB model you have mentioned have a very good reputation in Germany, and a nice looking unit. Don't be Scottish on the speaker selection. Buy the best one.

yeah agree with you on the speakers gabor. Havent done the fronts yet, will be putting decent ones in there too.

Ones i used in the back are metal coned ones from blaupunkt but fronts are v small for any big sounds.

Forgot to say the Focal kit is round and drops in simply to the hole. Sounds decent.

I have a set of Sony composite speakers in the front which pack quite a punch for the size of them, and i need to do the rears as when i crank it up a bit, it just goes fart fart fart crackle fart .
