    TVs making a racket

Remember the old days when the radio whinned along with the engine revs well my new 7" screens r very bad. any suggestions would be good.

can i put an inline suppresor or some thing like that.

even with the engine off I get lines moving accross the screen.

I have the power leads to the dvd on the oposite side of the car to the screen leads. I have a big strong good earth. my radio does not show any sign of this. If i plug the earphones into the dvd its self the noise very nearly goes.

the screen leads r a strange set up, if u have ever looked at the mouse connection to ur computer it looks the same as that.

    cheers

Some electronic specialists can sell you a range of donut shaped coils/toroids that can be used to effectively remove interference from all manner of cables. Check Maplin and RS for starters. Haven't you noticed that many new electrical applicances have these odd shaped bumps near the cable ends ?

It is these 'bumps' which reduce EMC interference and emissions on cables in accordance with newest EU & ITU guidelines. I could quote you some specs but that would be sadder than sad.

Try the toroids on the power and video cables for any improvements.

Also the general rule on cables is to make sure you are using decent quality coax or cabling. The shielding should of course make its way to chassis earth via the equipment. The cable you are describing sounds like a component cable (Y-C) so you want a decent quality S-Video cable for that.

got the suppressors but made no diff

used jump leads from my battery to wire it up and guess what no noise at all, so will wire the whole lot direct to the battery

If any1 is thinking of buying this system I would say it was very good value for money and the picture is ace now i have wired it direct.

Just out of interest, where had you wired it to previously before you wired it direct to the battery?

          Cheers,

Seems a strange way to wire something in.... Esp as on the ABY the battery is in the car.

Im always very picky on my wiring tho.

If I were you, I would cut a thin piece of MDF to a couple of mm oversize for the hole, cover it in the material of your choice to match and push it in. (Or will it just fall out again? )
