coupe stock location component speaker sizes

Ok, so I'm after getting some components to go in the coupe and want to check all the sizes.

Are the fronts a weird size or something? I read somewhere that the fronts are an odd size.

I have speakers in the rear quarter compartments, is this normal on all s2's or an extra? Don't remember these in my 3b.

    any thoughts appreciated.

ok fronts 10cm for sure. Had to remove two mounting tabs off of the new ones (The stock speakers only have two lugs) to get them to sit right.

if anyone is cutting tabs after reading this. Tape a bag over the whole speaker and poke whatever tab you are cutting out and seal it to stop metal dust getting into the voice coil or onto the speaker/tweeter. Magnets and metal filings = ruined voicecoil.

How do I remove the rear quarter speakers? does that cover just pull off or do I need to take off the interior panel?

If I seem to remember, when I changed the rear speakers on my V6 coupe I had to remove the panels as the speaker grill is held on with some kind of press fit washers from the otherside. Be careful removing them though as I broke most of them.

I must admit that the sound system is possibly the biggest let down of the coupe interior. Providing only 4 speakers just doesnt do the job in my opinion. I know back when they were being built sound quality wasn't the biggest concern but I had an Austin Metro that had a better sound system than the coupe. lol

Upgrades and on my long list of "to do's" but way down near the bottom.

Anyone know of a good speaker name that does 12.5cm for the rear panels?

What size are the tweeters in the parcel shelf supports?

I agree, my speakers are the orignal units and i know there old but they are some random cheap looking things and all of them are completely ******ed.

Also, with the front dash mounted ones, the speaker height is limited - from speaker magnet base to underside of mounting bracket, ive read elsewhere that 4.7cm is the limit.

I run a four channel Kenwood amp, 10cm Kenwood coaxials and tweeter in the dash, standard rear speakers and a 10" Kenwood Sub. IMO it sounds great. Nothing wrong with the stock locations, you just need to build and set up a good system!

very tidy install. Thats what i plan to do, can of tyre weld and ditch the spare. It's a slightly diff. size to the alloys now anyway.

I've just put a pair of these in the dash of my 94 coupe,

They sound sweet as bearing in mind I have no rear speakers at the moment. On the sound quality of these I think I might get the 13cm jobbies for the back as well.
