Fibre glass sub box

I'm sure I remember reading about someone building a fibreglass sub box in the coupe boot, opposite side to the spare wheel - can't find it though

Did I imagine it?

Looking into this as I really like the security of my spare wheel. Any info appreciated

Yeah built mine along the similar lines, but didnt do the fibreglass part, was purely MDF, could easily be re adapted though

we do this kind of stuff all the time over here.

this isnt S2, its a MK3 Golf. but same principal. i wanted full trunk and the spare as well (which is under the carpet)

its actually quite fun.....

Any pics of the build up for those? did you cover the inside of the car in foil or polythene and lay the fibre straight into where you would fit it?

foil, painters tape, all of it. and lined with wire mesh too for it to keep its form....

I want to say that I have seen people define the shape with an MDF frame and rings (for the speakers) then stretched fleece to create the shape and coat with resin and reinforced with more glass mat for strength.

we use speaker grille material.... or i use old t-shirts too. just like the headlight clone and turbo inlet i made.
