CD Sound Problem

Does anyone have any ideas? The sound has stopped from by Blaupunkt boot fitted CD Changer. At first it stopped intermittently, and I put this down to the dampness and leaking boot syndrome, but now, with a dry boot, the sound has stopped completely. The CD changer is working and changes discs, as I can hear this from inside the car, also the display on the dashboard indicates the chamges. It will only "try" and play the first track of each disc, no sound occurs, then it changes to the next disc, and same thing happens.
The sound on the radio is fine.
What should I check? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the laser on the changer to me mate, if you've got a cd cleaner i'd try that.
Cant think of a quick fix if it is.

Could also be the cable but if your hearing it skip disks then it's most likely laser allignment or laser has gone.

I tried cleaner, no luck, so have removed unit and sent it away for checking. Am now told "Beyond economical repair".
Question is, will I have to replace dash unit and wiring too to connect a new CD changer? Anyone got any further advice?

Not if you get the same changer or one with in the same model range from Blaupunkt mate.

Check ebay.

It depends what head unit you have & what changer you buy. See the Blaupunkt website - there's a compatibility chart available there.

I am waiting to hear from Blaupunkt as to compatability.
Peter, do you have an address for Blaupunkt chart? I could not find on search. Unit was original with car, 1991, so maybe not suitable for new CD Changers?

What exactly is your headunit? A lot of manufacturer uses the same hardware with their own brandname on it. Some might suit yours too.
