    Very interesting.
It will be necessary to measure the volume which can be used for boxes.

for a leaky closed box (which is what it will be like) the volume is not very important, if you want to make a vented (bass reflex) box, then it is and you'll want to make a proper box to fit behind the panel. I do not play loud, so I'll do a normal install there and use DSP to get deep bass

Closed box usually requires less volume than a reflex. Filling the box with a damping material will increase virtual volume. After measuring the volume behind the panel will be clear whether it is possible to place the subwoofer there with small volume requirements.

for a closed box 6" I'm sure that whatever is behind the panel will be enough, so I don't bother to measure it. If you want a decent tuned BR you need to seal it up very well and measure the volume within 10%

I hope to put there 8" or 10". If I can make a box of at least 14 liters, can put Carrozzeria TS-W1RSII or Peerless XXLS 10, both can play in this volume. Now I have Crescendo Etude 2.10 . A great speaker, but requires at least 23 l.

do you plan to put in a real box behind the panel? if not, then it will be a leaky box, so the performance of the speaker will not be as predeicted for a truely sealed box.

Began experiments. The results are encouraging, according to preliminary estimates are available about 15 liters ! And I have not repeated all the bends. If done carefully, it will give a couple of liters.

but enough for most 6", and certainly enough for the one I have planned (some doubt creeps in to use a 6x9, does have 50% more area, which is always good)

This is sufficient for many 8". I do not know what is best, 10 in the trunk or 8 (one or two) in these places. I will try.

6x9 bad choice for quality. Of decent 6x9 I only know PHD Profile 69, Boston Acoustics SPG555-4 and rare JBl.

I did not get a good integration with the sub in the trunk, so I have it in the footwell behind the driver's seet now.

I was thinking of the Tangband W69-1042, I have used this at home with good results (look further than the normal car audio brands )

digging out this thread... had to place the sub in the boot again, and the bass sounds crap now, so this noods to move forward now

@Ironman80: how did you attach the box to the panels?

                                Your HU has Time alignment?

It is not yet attached. Only recently has the idea gained a sequel. We plan to integrate the box with the panel completely to make leather. Now we make boxes. There will be two subs (on each side).
