    Coupe Speakers

Ok, having done a search and all the threads with speaker identification seem to be out of date (manufacturers changing part numbers) what is the current thinking on a good stealth speaker install?
Headunit is a Nakamichi MB75 which has red/white phono leads on the back of it
would do an Amp if required but like to know what exactly?
I don't want a sub box in any shape.
    My thinking is
4" components up front (tweeter in the air vent), I know a 5.25" fits with mods but haven't seen any images or threads relating so am wary without seeing it 1st
and a decent sub type speaker in the rear cards, would make a sealed enclosure if needs must. Seen the guides to ensure a good fit but what size speaker fits? 5.25" or a 6.5"
I do not want loud, I want clarity with presence...

oh and if I cannot use the stock grilles, the speakers must come with OE looking grilles, logo's are ok as long as they are suitable

I'm trying to achieve the same thing. To get decent sq across a full frequency range you really need 3 way components which is a problem in the coupe, I went for 10cm components in the OEM location & air vent. Rear cards can take reasonable sizes drivers with mods, stock is 5.25" IIRC, but you can probably use a shallow 8" with some mods. Full frequency range will ruin the staging of the front components unless you use a LP filter on them
I've gone for a sub in the boot - making a custom fibreglass enclosure down the right side of the boot to maximise boot space. Need to find a home for my amp next....

I would suggest these for the fronts, Pioneer TS-G1023i:

and Pioneer TS-G1323i for the rear:

What components did you use up front?
8" sub's in the rear cards would be interesting if that is what you meant? could just use the card as a cover and build the enclosure in the space, I think I read 15L is the space in each, if sealed what would be the ideal size for the speaker?
I prefer to keep the spare wheel rather than rely on a can of goo

Personally, I don't see the point of separates for the the front speakers as the glass will reflect the high frequencies into the cabin and if you use separates you loose the windscreen vent.

My Rainbows have adjustable crossovers to allow you to compensate for dash mounting and the reflected high frequencies
You can't beat amped components for clarity, but it's a more involved install and the OEM mounting positions are far from ideal

I also looked at the DLS Reference R4 but the grill on the tweeter is too ugly

Error, on the Rainbows did you use the stock speaker grill?
how did you improve the sound transmission through the grill?
Have you used Rainbow's for the rear cards also?

I still have my coupe door builds for sale that allow dual 6.5 to 7" speakers with a tweeter.

Infact I might still have the complete door cards with them on need to check

Great, but that is not really an OE look I am after?

I have some stock grills I painstakingly cut the mesh out of - I was going to cover them in some acoustic cloth to improve the sound but then I was lucky enough to buy some rare high-end OEM grills for mine. Only tested them so far as I have taken my dash back out to install my Cat1 immob but the sound quality is night & day compared to the old Nokias and I've not even hooked them up to the amp yet.

Nothing in the rear cards for me. 2 way components and in the process of adding the amp & sub in boot enclosure
