Thanks guys... I didn't know that it was working with this Concert. For some reason in my mind I was certain it was the A4 B7 Concert, which is an entirely different unit. So I'm now in search for a Concert I too for my 80 Avant

I've been searching all the pros and cons of fitting an Audi Concert radio with Yatour to play mp3s and I realised that you do actually sacrifice a lot of functionality over aesthetics.
a. It only supports cards or USBs up to 8GB (2GB recommended)
b. You don't get any of the file info on the Headunit's screen. All you get is CD01, 02 etc.
c. It doesn't support subfolders.
d. It only supports mp3 and wma file format, so if you have a lot of lossless audio formats (e.g. flac) you have to convert them before they can be played.
e. If I understood well there is a limit to the number of folders you can have on the card/USB stick.
These are some serious drawbacks though the appearance is so well suited to the B4's centre console that, even after knowing all these, I still feel undecided as to whether I want it or not.
My Avant is the one and only car in the family and as a result I do spend a lot of time driving it. Although I'm prepared to sacrifice a lot of virtues modern cars have over its character and its looks (mainly suspension comfort and cabin NVH levels), I'm not willing to go too far with this.
Has anyone here got any experience on using this radio configuration (Concert - Yatour) on a daily basis? How serious are the drawbacks and how useable is it in real life?Comment

whoaa whoa whoa.. yes there are drawbacks.. but really man, "It doesn't support subfolders.". Yes, you have to do homework before using yatour. Takes 5 minutes though. And no, you can not take your friends flash drive with NTFS file system and plug and play it. Same goes to lossless formats. Yes you have to do the homework. Not a big deal though.I've been searching all the pros and cons of fitting an Audi Concert radio with Yatour to play mp3s and I realised that you do actually sacrifice a lot of functionality over aesthetics.

8GB limit - you can still have shitload of music as yatour does not support FLAC files. Not an issue for me in real life. But it is personal
Limit of folders: yes, as those folders emulate number of cd in CD changer. But from what i know you can have up to 99 files in each cd-folder.
But back to the practical stuff.
Really, i don't mean to be rude but... stop making this nearly "arrogant" requirements. be happy that you can still hook up something like yatour to your old headunit (where manufacturers don't really care, as there are too few users). Just be happy for what you can get.
You will attach it to wide faced head unit, right? I wish i could do that.
In my car, there is narrow face 1-din head unit slot. Just for comparison, think about my possibilities. There was hardly any way of sustaining oem look and playing CDs, as all oem cd-systems require bose setup (let it be HU with cd inside or a HU that can control CD changer), which cannot function in my car as my front speakers are passive.
At the moment, I am using becker traffic pro high speed HU with yatour emulator for becker.Comment

I've used my phone in usb storage mode with 16GB card in it without any issues. I guess this information is from times when 8GB was biggest you can get. Same thing I had with one of my old phones - it said 4GB max, but 8GB worked just fine.
Btw Yatour also has 3,5mm line input where you can connect your mp3 player, phone, tablet and so on

did not try with more than 8gb, but mine misbhaved when i have thrown in ntfs card with just random folder structure. IIRC it played track 4 and I was not able to change itI've used my phone in usb storage mode with 16GB card in it without any issues. 3,5mm output... it is not the point, it is easy to hack nearly any radio for that. The problem is that here you have control over headunit, you don't have to plug your mp3 player or phone and start it every time. What I love about my setup, it is that it starts when i turn on the ignition (can be turned on / off manually regardless) and shuts off when i turn off the engine, it just continues next time where i left off
)
That is the point.Comment

Why exactly am I arrogant?
I don't have the wideface headunit. I have to buy it and it's not cheap. On top of that I have to buy the yatour device and I haven't even reached to the point that I can install everything because I have to take all the centre console out and grind it in order to fit the wideface radio. I now have a single DIN mp3 player that plays mp3s and wavs, supports subfolders, has no limits to the number of folders you can get on the flash drive and displays file info on the screen, but unfortunately it doesn't have the Audi OEM look. I'm contemplating losing all this functionality and pay extra money over good looks and this is arrogance? All I asked is how practical this configuration is in every day use.

Does not matter about the arrogance but you have got the answers. Maybe i used the wrong word, maybe not, does not matter now.Why exactly am I arrogant?

Wait wait wait... what? I don't understand now, are you planning to use widefaced HU or narrow 1din?
I know all about using non oem looking units, i took the way myself, but this is not the best solution imho.
You have currently no options for narrow faced unit for digital music changer.Comment

Yes I'm thinking of using a Concert radio on an 1993 Audi 80. It is doable and it looks terrific but it is difficult and expensive compared to a fairly good aftermarket unit.
I'm really interested in the opinions of people who use it in their cars though. For example I do long 3 hour trips at least 4 times a month and I don't want to listen to the same songs again and again. With 16GB as mdz said that shouldn't be a problem but if yatour supports limited number of folders that means each folder will have so many songs it will be difficult to find a specific band/artist. That kind of advice/feedback is what I'm after.
This is not to say that what Yatour has achieved with their device isn't remarkable. They've added some modern plug and play functionality to an otherwise not particularly useful casette player and it's certainly better to have this option than not to have it at all.Comment
) I don't use it.
