RS2 Avant Rear Door speakers

For a while I've noticed that I had no audio coming out of the right rear speakers.

On closer listening its just the bass unit, the tweeter is still fine. I'd originally hoped it was just a loose connection from the head unit but obviously not.

My questions are:

1. Are the woofer and tweeter wired in parallel or is there some sort of crossover ?
2. Can you get access to them without taking the door card off ? I had a gentle pull at the woofer grill but it didn't move

If I can get acces to the back of the speaker I can check to see if its duff.

When i took mine out there was a jumper on the back of the woofer to connect the tweeter in, it may be the cable going to the woofer is broken on the woofer.

Did you get to the speakers by pulling the grill off ? Or did you have to take the door card off first ?

I'm hoping the grills come off and then you can unscrew the speakers.

Mine is an S2 coupe so the setup is different. if you do some searches on the forum the subject of taking the door card off an avant has been bought up before. As for taking the speakers off of mine you have to twist them since they have small locating ears which slide into place and clamp the speaker into place.

Removing the rear door cards is easy - see here. As Greg said there is a jumper connection for the tweeters. You might be lucky & find the main speaker wires are disconnected. That's why one of mine wasn't working.

Door card off thanks to previous pointers, so thanks guys.

The speaker is duff, though not in the way I expected. The coil wires have burnt out at the point they go through some plastic guiding holes.

Managed to not lose the 6 folding rubber pieces that stop it squeaking - though I have gained a small right angle grey foam piece that I can't work out where it goes.

The foam piece is out of the door handle. It covers where the release cable hooks into the back of the handle.
