    sub

Hi i have just got a new sub and im trying to wire it up off the head unit. I have put the rca leads round from the head unit to the sub. I have now got a power lead which takes up one of the three terminals in the back of the sub and also the earth which takes up another one. What does the third middle terminal do in the back off the sub. From right terminal to left it goes power ? earth. please help cheers

This should be in the ICE section, could a mod move it?

The 3rd cable is the remote on cable, this should be wire to the electric aerial / amp on cable on the back of the head unit.

this sends a 12V signal to the amp in the sub to switch on and off with the head unit.

Any ideas hwere this would be on the back of the head unit? I suppose it depends on the head unit? I got a pioneer if that helps

Do you have a multimeter? If yes, it should'nt be too hard to find.
Otherwise, if you're looking at an ISO connector the pinouts are here

+ make sure you have this whole lot setup to cut out when you turn off the ignition. Big class A amps draw nearly as much current whether idle or at full tilt.
I have a 3 amp setup and my head unit's not hooked into the ignition circuit. I've had a dead battery a couple of times from leaving the head unit on by accident.

It's the electric aerial output on the ISO connector.

            It's normally dark blue.

Who originally wired up you stereo?

You need to connect a wire (typically theres a remote wire on the RCA cable if it's high quality) to the electric aerial output on the headunit and run it from the head unit to the sub connection.

This is a typical ISO connector, you would connect a wire to the auto aerial wire output back to the sub.

the amp would then turn on and off with the head unit.
