    ice issues...

    Hi All,

    I have a weired sound problem ....

setup.. 2 amps, tube and 2 speakers on shelf..

    problem...

no sound from the boot, amps not powering up .

    situation...

checked fuses in amps, and in the power calbe leading to the amps. checked connection to amps - Live, checked remote wire at the amps and Live too.

So they have a live conenction, fuses are fine, and remote wire is live too, but they dont power up. Both stopped at same time so its not a amp problem .

    Any suggestions?

CHeck earth, failing that, could be a faulty switch in the amp for the swith live (remote) connection

        will check earth...

cant be faulty switch as both amps stopped working at same time and tested the remote wire at the amp connection and it was live.

cheers guys will try the earth.

The problem is most likely your head unit is not strong enough to power the remote aerial and two amps from the remote on.

Try connecting the remote on to one amp only from the head unit (disconnect the amplied aerial as well).

Also where are the amps ground too? it shouldn't go to the battery but to somewhere on the body in the boot.

The head is strong enough as ive had this setup for almost 2 years now. The ground is to the battery. remote goes to 1 amp only, from there it is linked to other amp.

Will try puting the ground to the body as suggested

Still try one amp on remote mate, i've had the same problem on head units for 5 years, they work fine then bamn they dont.

With ICE you should always try to ground to body unless you have 0 gauge wire back to the battery. It cause's a bottleneck in current draw.

                ohh the headache...

well i decided to take another look at this problem.

While messing with all the wires, i found this "switch" under my dash. guess what killed the cat... yup.. curiosity.

I switched it on and my ex-immobiliser kicked in. Nothing would turn it off. 3-4 hours later and half the dash stripped managed to sort it. dont ask me how.. but its sorted..

i guess i will do the ice another day
