    H&R Nightmare!!!!!

    Guys,

Ordered, & paid for, a set of H&R springs for my coupe from AMD, to compliment my new 18's. AMD chap told me 2-3 days delivery. Great me thinks.

Got my car into mates garage, strip car in preparation.

Get call from AMD, my springs are in. Travel an hour to AMD to collect. Open box, only two spings . AMD man calls H&R, and promises springs to my door 2-3 days. My car still on ramps.

Wife rang me up today, "Your free sample springs have just turned up" (poor girl, so trusting ). I rush home (Bedford) from BRISTOL, push aside my 2 year old waiting to greet me at the door, & dive into the H&R box.

WTF, They have only sent me a set for the Avant .

Called back the chap at AMD, who will try H&R in the morning. Will probably take another 3-4 days. Billing clock ticking, & my car still in bits at my mates.

Anyone else had this problem with H&R/AMD.

If Anyone knows or a suspension kit for sale, please PM me.

    Cheers

    Imran.

It would have been worthwhile doing a quick search for anything to do with AMD and H&R on this forum before parting with cash. I'll bet a tenner you have the set Greg bought:

I, and others, have been through this whole sad sorry saga in one form or another before. Frankly i was so cross about the quality/ride height/lack of actual "springiness" in "progressive" springs that i had my own done and they are bloody marvellous. Wasn't at all expensive either. Lowered (slammed?) is not funny at all and the last set of H&Rs i tried now lie on the workshop floor, abandoned. Springs are not easy to produce, as you are trying to satisfy everyone's expectations. Much better to have a set just for your own taste and preference. I know this isn't exactly helping you in your predicament but before anyone else goes charging off to buy springs, think twice. I think Greg ended up with a set (which i believe he is perfectly happy with) from www.shyauto.com

      Where are yours from Graham?
      Can you get more?
How much is not at all expensive?
      Thanks,

You do need to fit decent dampers as well, other wise you will not get the best from them.

What numbers are on the first 2 that arrived? If they're rear you have a full set as the avant fronts should be the same as coupe fronts, only different number and colour because of the different set.

Presuming here that the 2nd shipping was a set and not a pair.

                H&R's

The first set of two are at AMD, I think they have returned them.

get them from qstuning.com. spot on service. came within the specified delivery time, and were correct fitment for coupe. and they were the same springs for front and rear so that the car ride height evens up front to back

I had the same problem when I ordered H&R coilovers for my ABY S2 coupe.I received a set for an Avant. The H&R catalog is somewhat vague regarding the S2,the listing in my catalog showing the S2 saloon and avant only.

                          Coupe S2 H&R (Nightmare Cont')

I got a call from AMD, to say that the H&R kit for the coupe, which are on the way, will give a drop of 50mm.

Is this correct, seems a bit too much TBH. I have 225/40/18's on 20mm spacers, & dont want my F1's sufffering.

                          Imran.

No problem, ask MartinJS he's running the same S8 rims with 20mm spacers with HR springs and Koni shocks.

From what I understand, all S2s had a 30mm drop from the factory over the standard type 89 coupe. If they say there is a 50mm drop, perhaps that is from the standard suspension height,so you would get a further 20mm drop in that case.
