    Changing top mounts-quick question

    Hi all,

Quick question: Hoping to change my top mounts tonight, does anyone know if you have to have a 22m slotted socket, or is there anything else that can be used.

    Cheers
    Rich

You can probably get away with a 22mm offset ring spanner but the socket with cutout makes it much easier.

Or get a socket and grind 2 flats on each side so a spanner fits over the socket - then you can still get into the allen head.

I seem to remember being fine with a 22mm angled ring spanner on the Audi 80 top mounts that I did. Are these the same on the S2??

Yeah i used a swan neck spanner. Found it easier for the rears because the trims which sit just above the turrets dont need removing.

                Thanks for the adice all,
Problem was solved via a deep 22m socket and a large angle grinder in the end!! I do at least now have my very own top mount tool. Very strange though when i took the front top mounts off, has one blue and one green!?! Not sure whats going on there but they have both been replaced. Unfortunately one of the drop links got damaged in the proces, so will need to source one of them to remove a rather distrubing clonking... aah well one step forward, two back.
