I've finally got some Bilstein shocks to go with my Eibach springs on my S4 but before I go fitting them is there any way to align the camber back to factory spec afterwards? I've read that after lowering an S4 it's not possible to align the front camber to the original settings, causing excessive inner edge tyre wear. Has anyone experienced problems with this and can it be sorted??? Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!!
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.
We just fit Bilsteins with H&Rs into our S4 and haven’t had a problem. There is a limited adjustment range on the top mount. I think the problem is you end up with it fully to one side of this range in order to get the camber within spec. Sometimes it’s still not right and you don’t have any adjustment left so you’re stuck with a degree or so of negative camber. We fitted new tyres and got the alignment done at the same time so I can’t really tell if they are wearing the insides faster. Car drives great, no sign of tramlining which is the usual side effect of excessive camber. If anything i don’t think its enough to matter in my opinion.
There is an article on s-cars.org somewhere from a guy who modified the top mount which works around the problem.
Mark.
