there's one final problem, well 2 actually.
the first i'm pretty sure i've got narrowed down to the propshaft bearing. what is happening is that when the clutch is let out, there's a is a clunk. tranny and rear diff are tight, a couple of new mounts in there as well so i'm confident they're not moving around. i breifly checked the bearing when the car was apart but couldn't really tell when i'm on my back and the car is only 8" in the air!
the other is another clunk, but this one i'm having trouble figuring. during moderate to heavy braking, there's a big clunk that can be heard AND felt. I think it's coming from the passenger (driver's for you guys) front suspension. the confusion comes from the fact that over the past 6 months i've been over under and inside pretty much every inch of the car and i didn't see anything suspect. nor did i recieve any comments from the alignment shop on friday. could a blown strut insert hide itself like this? i know it's not the top mounts as i got the ultra beefy ones from the group buy on AW
other than that it runs great and it sounds wicked when I give it some revs. I burned through $23 in gas on friday night chasing after my friends with their turboed golfs and jettas
