S2 Avant vs RS2 rear shocks

Just a quicky. Are the RS2 rear shocks dimensionally the same as S2 Avant ones? I know they have stiffer damping rates but is the spring platform in the same position, etc?

I've fitted Bilsteins in the front of my avant and need to do something with the rears to even things up. Anybody know if the RS2 shocks are a good match for the Bilsteins or do I need to buy some S4 rear Billys and fit them like has been done by someone a while back on this forum.

    Cheers

I have RS2 shocks for my Avant, so, yes they will fit no problem. I'm not sure how they compare to Bilsteins though. I would have thought that you would need to get the same all round.

If you have Bilsteins on the front then I personally would fit Bilsteins to the rear to match things up

Best stick with same all round. I would go with OEM RS2 spec dampers all round if upgrading S2 avant.
Sorted for the car with no set up worries............just check how many 'right' settings there are for the koni setup

I've already got Bilsteins on the front so it looks like it'll have to be a pair of S4 Billys and a hacksaw blade for the back. Just waiting for a couple of quotes coming back, should be about same price as standard RS2 ones.

With the present setup of front Bilsteins and standard rears I get a lot of understeer as the front end is so stiff compared to the rear. I really need stiffer damping on the rear to match the fronts. As soon as RS2 front ARBs become available again I'll be putting one on, along with a rear one. Car should handle really nice then.
