    H&R part no.s

Well ive had my H&R's fitted with my billies, but the back is still as high when i started.

the H&R;'s are 29 909 VA ALL ROUND!

this is what i was told i needed, to have the same all round to get the rear to lower the same ammount as the front, but it hasn't? do i need the proper rear part no.s or are the VA's rears?

    headache

    Who told you that???????????

You need 29 909 HA to drop the rear as low as the fronts. Ask T2 Andy as he has my VA/HA H&R springs.

They sell 29 909 VA allround as it supposely handles better.

Get the lower ones on the back - otherwise it looks wrong.

Not sure about the handling better with fronts on the rear - too many other variables to say that.

I bought mine from QST a few months back, all four where the 29909VA's. I never really noticed the rear being any higher to be honest. The gap between the tyre and wheel arch the same front and back, and the wheels fit perfectly into the wheel arch, i.e. same gap left, right, and top. I do have 18" rims which fills them out though.

Handles just fine to me, great turn in and a little tail happy if you provoke it. Softer rear springs i don’t think would work as well IMO, sounds more like the stock setup with massive under steer. The suspenion does dive more on the front now under load, but for a street car its much more reassuring on bumpy slippy B roads. Its all down to personal preference.

Did you change your top mounts too? Mine had blues in the rear originally so thats what i replaced them with. Blues do lower the ride height a bit vs the greens. I also have greens in the front so that combination might have levelled the ride height out a bit too.

          Mark.

The rears HA are the same spring compression they're just shorter to keep the height the same all round.

I bought my H&R springs from a reputable supplier and shortly after i had to pick up some parts from QST . Some bloke there (with a girls name i think) said my car was too low at the back and i should have got the fronts all round! but as i pointed out to him, a. I like the way it sits, imo its just right and, b. surely H&R developement dept. know a fred sight more about chassis dynamics and spring rate/length than any local'cough'specialist! Apart from anything else if the springs failed for whatever reason and you went back to H&R after fitting front springs on the back i am quite sure they would laugh politely and apologise for being unable to help you.

Only my thoughts on this, feel free to make up your own mind.

In answer to the questions, yes i do have blue top mounts all round. i can see the points about being a little tail happy being higher at the rear which if anything is better than understeer, but on my car (and i'll take pics tomorrow) it doesnt look right. as someone said, H&R have developed a rear spring for the rear, so thats what im gonna use. when i decided to go down the uprated suspension route, the main aim obviously was to get better handling, and if the car was lowered slightly, giving it better looks then all the better, so i'll call QST and see what they say about getting me some HAs for the rear.

thanks for all the advice guys

Best of luck with that dude, don't get spanked for them either, there are some people out there that are more interested in your dough than your ride

Not everybody subscribes to this philosophy of customer care, unfortunately a few do. Just beats me how they don't go under

I have the same springs all round also. and I have often wondered if there is an advantage having the same ones all round so I will be interested to see what the result is when you change yours over. When looking at min the back sits slightly higher than dougs but the over gap from tyre to the arch looks the same to me on my car
