    Recommendations on Suspension U/G?

Well, it may soon be time to pack away the stock shocks and lowering springs for something that'll me a touch more responsive and firmer, and eliminate a bit of roll...

I'm looking at keeping a fairly comfortable ride, and from what I've read it seems that the best comprimise is the H+R springs / Bilstein Shocks combo... my question is, anyone got any experience on the best place to get these things are? Just seems like a pain in the *** to find the right parts when you don't really know what you're looking for...

Mihnea had a look a coilover kit online at £780inc VAT which seemed quite reasonable; not sure where that was from though - any tips appreciated!

    Cheers

You could try Kim Collins at QST, or I'm sure Mihnea/Doug at MRC could also help you out. (What is it with Three Letter Acronyms!). That's a good price for coilovers I think.

I have H&R springs and Koni dampers and it is a FIRM ride, be assured of that. Do you have a Coupe or Avant? You should also consider beefing up the Anti-Roll Bars - RS2 Front and either RS2 rear (Avant), or Whiteline rear (Coupe), depending on which one you have...

It's a Coupe (3B). ATM it's got lowering springs, so pretty much stock - I must admit, it was nice to plant it on an uber-bumpy cumbrian backroad the other week and have power constantly to the ground and have i nice soft, spongey ride; but then I realised that was a US car characteristic. It's got 996's + 300hp so it goes like **** of a shiney shovel and stops well so I figured it's time to work on the cornering a little!

I had a brief chat with Mihnea, it was him who suggested the Bilstein setup as it would firm up the ride but without breaking teeth over the bumps - inportant as she's a daily driver. Hoping to hear if anyone has sourced the right parts at a good price recently. Would the ARB be a worthwhile project to add to the list then? How have you found it affects the drive?

      cheers

Read the sticky thread on Whiteline Rear ARBs in the suspension section - that basically covers all the ground on handling changes with changing the rear, and front, ARBs.

Put it this way, with Konis/H&Rs, speed bumps basically slow me down more than any other car in London - not only because of the increased firmness, but the lowered ride also means greater risk of grounding. I don't mind it though and I can't stand cars that "float", and my wife gets travel sick in cars with floaty soft suspension!
