Does anyone else have anything to add on this? The reason i ask is a mate of mine has konis on his 3b and does not like the harsh ride and he wants the standard set up. So we have done a deal and are going to swap shocks and springs. His is a 91 3b and mine is a 93 ABY will there be any problems with swapping shocks and springs? Lets see if I can explain this...
As i said, there's two versions. 50 and 55mm. AFAIK the S2 has a strange mix of them... Just measure the diameter of the strut, just below the top nut that sits where the shock goes down in the strut. This can be done while on car.Attached FilesRed cars are the fastest ones...

I've seen places listing Konis for the S2 in two different sizes. Just checked the Bilstein list, and they list two different versions. They also state that "On the S2, Audi used different types of front shocks. measure them to be sure!"
"The bible" does however only list one version... The only thing stated there is that MY91 should have a different strut than the other MYs.
This confuses me a bit, but I'd measure them just to be sure. Would suck to take the car apart if it wouldn't fit.Red cars are the fastest ones...

There are 2 types.
Usually 3b have the slimmer ones.
Another way you can tell is from the size of the bolts that attach strut to hub. If they can be removed using a 19mm socket/spanner then they are the early type. Later ones have a 22mm nutComment

So in mt basic terms
if i can get his konis off with with a 22mm socket then they will fit my ABY? Thanks for your help.
