    nightmare subframe horror

had the car up on the ramps today for a pre mot inspection and noticed to my horror there was no bolt in the o/s/r front subframe so rang ben and ordered a new one
but in the meantime i had to put a non oe bolt in as the frame was 10mm away from the chassis but nothing the captive nut was spining
so rang ja from the lion garage in hinckley as i didnt want to take off the subframe took his advise by cutting a a hole in the inner wing and found the clip had come away from the captive nut thus is why it was spining

the hole i cut and where the bolt should go

Yes, I've dealt with that twice on other B4 cars....and my car needs it right now, too. Last time I had the subframe down, it was loose, but I managed to retighten it although the nut was spinning because I didn't have time to get the welder out.
The car hasn't been driven since then, but I am going to try a new method....
I'm going to try using a hole-saw to cut her open this time. Then I'll go in and do the other front side, too.
