Alloy Subframe Bushes - Dailly driver?

    hi,

Can anyone report on the alloy subfram bushes and comfort?, i've got a set that are going into a replacement rear subframe (if Audi have the bolts!)

I've seen posts from Jeffer and Jas11n who wouldn't recommend them in a dailly driver but some other views would be great.

Likewise, I've got them and QRS top mounts all around plus new konis on 18's and the ride is, to quote a recent passenger "sporting but luxurious" ! It really is not rougher, noisier or unduly apparent actually, just more responsive...for me it was one of the simple things that makes my coupe feel more of how it should have been from the factory... (thanks Ben !)

I often wonder when people post that these things "improve turn in" or "responsiveness" is because they are replacing 10 year old oem bushes? would the improvement be so different from installing new oem bushes?

I have aluminum subframe bushings, delrin control arm bushings, and aluminum top mounts and the road noise is much more loud but the car is very responsive. I wouldn't use it as a daily driver if I were putting many miles on per week, its just a little to rough/touchy. The 255 tires don't help cause every little uneven place in the pavement pulls you around.

Well I must add that the roads in Australia are bloody awful, at least where I live, and my bushes were were actually in pretty good shape before we wrenched the poor *******s out ! When I spoke to my mechanic about how I wanted to improve the driveline of my car and generally tighten the chassis up he actually made the point of the huge difference he felt after doing it to another customers car, and he's an Audi factory tech who's generally of the opinion that all this fannying about with aftermarket add ons is mostly a waste of money..."after the 10's of millions of dollars the factory spends developing these cars, you think you're really going to do a better job !" kind of thing....but these and the QRS top mounts really have tangibly enhanced the driveline with minimal detriment to comfort, especially if you enjoy a bit of push on driving IMHO

Had some fitted about 2 months ago, car is currently running on 18's with H&R springs with standard dampers. Only difference I noticed was how much tighter the car felt, can't say I've noticed any difference with the ride quality.

run a set of dialynx alloy subframe bushes for the last 4 years. Can't say as I have noticed any major increase in noise but it did feel tight when i had them done initially...

I have them fitted up front, standard bushes in the rear (Avant). Also have the rose joint topmounts, Koni dampers and H&R springs.

Yes, it's harsher than standard setup but that's how I like my cars, always have done.

Horses for courses imo. Handling is better but you will get some comfort trade-off, nature of the beast. It's just personal preference as to wether you like it in a daily driver.

                    I do.
