Gearbox and engine mounts? Also shockers could be toast if they are OEM and you've done 198k miles!

Ski i have the same bang as you, and change also all the items that you changed plus Bilstein.
I took of the steering damper and the noise is less strong
I have now orderd EFI 034 gearbox mounts to see if it help.
After that the only other thing that I could change would be: Mc pherson and springs

Do you think 12 years old spring could have change shape and not sit right in the Mc pherson and their for make some noise.

the noise is only their if a forth to back translation same time. if i lift the car on jack and let it fall no noise or if i go to the MOT guy with the "shaking bank" no noise also. but if i heat a small sharp groove with some speed BANG

Gearbox mounts going to be changed when my clutch / flywheel arrives.

Also "bits" of the springs have snapped off so I defo need to change them + shocks.

Guys I need ur opinion here.

2 weeks ago when my car came off the rollers, it came off at 7k rpm, 3 wheels stopped immediatly, 1 wheel (front) carried on spinning. Whould this strain gearbox / diff?

I tested it after and all was fine, but now im getting tapping like noise and tapping like vibration coming from the front, i can feel it through pedals and its getting worse is it related? Offcourse ive had it all checked out, everything is tight, and nothing can be found.

P.S. when the strap snapped, it took a tiny chunk out of my inside wheel, balance seems uneffected.

did all s2 have rarb as standard and metal link arms on the farb??Also what the best way to test if the bushes are worn?Guessing they have never been replaced on my car not in the last 10 years anyway!thinking maybe buckled wheel cauing bad handling as when i had it tracked one wheel was quite bad but is running on the rear now and balanced as well as the garage could!

Rear anti roll bar was fitted to all S2s. Metal ARB drop links were replaced by plastic items during the 1994 MY.

what would be the advantage fitting a whiteline rarb instead of the standard one?

If you fit a RS2 FARB and Whiteline RARB you get a neutral handling car (in Mark H words)

In lamens terms it feels flatter through the corners and the reduction in bodyroll is another significant improvement.

I've also found the car is less "jiggly" when driving, i'm quite happy with the setup.

have to see how far my budget can stretch!Think maybe first i will try some new wheels as the the buckled wheel may be the cause of all my problems! Also another fault i found while underneath the car last night is the gearbox mounting by the front subframe is broken!Anyone got a spare one or no where i could source one from???

I've just fitted my RS2 front ARB to go with the rear whiteline already on.
What setting should the rear be one to get the most 'neutral' handling? Any experiences of this? Judging by the size of the RS2 front, I would imagine the stiffest - is this correct?

PJ most people go for the middle setting IIRC. some people think the stiffest setting ( nearest to the bar) is a bit too much.
