    Knackered Bearing?

Over the past month I have noticed that after about an hour of driving on the motorway, my front off side wheel starts to groan. I thought it was the breaks as it would disapear for a short while if a dabbed them. But today I noticed that when steering to the right the noise would go and when steering to the left the noise would increase.

Does this sound like a knackered wheel bearing?

if it is the front o/s wheel bearing, should both front bearings be changed? (and the rears?)

    Thanks ... Angus

Sounds like it Angus. I had the same from the rear just after sorting the driveshaft.
You have had your calipers refurbed/replaced ( I think) so it should not be that.
I changed both as the whole rear brake set up was being done at the same time but I do not think you have to unless you worry about 'sods law'

Just out of interest (Well, i have a tiny bit of play in my nearside rear), how much are wheel bearings, and are the fronts the same as the rears on the coupe

@alg - yes new calipers all round and was momentarily worried/annoyed that that where the noise was coming from.

I seem to remember seeing a post somewhere, may even have been on S2Central, which gave the manufacturer's part number rather than the Audi one. That would make it possible to source the bearing somewhere else which should make it cheaper.

I bought a wheel bearing from GSF and it only lasted about a year.
