    Hydraulic oil - attention!

Since I have purchased my S2 a month ago it is all about repairs and costly part replacement. On top of it I have to deal with inadequatly educated service people. One of the things that was bothering my from the beginning of my 'voyage, voyage' with S2 was the hydraulic system components - steering rack and brakes.

I had my steering rack repaired and the pressure bomb replaced by new VAG one. What I didn't know is that in no case red/atf oil should be used for hydraulic system (but VAG green G 002 instead). So I've been driving with that oil in my system for last few weeks and then I also replaced the hydraulic pump (it was leaking). Again red oil was pured in by 'technical' persons. Then I almost had an accident, my brakes totally failed on me - like the bomb malfunctioned and even worse - pedal became totally stiff and it became almost impossible to stop. Could it be of the oil ?

Luckily noone was hurt. I then learned through search on this forum that only audi G 002 oil should be used. I am going to use it now but my question is what should I now inspect and how to remove the red stuff out of my system completly?

chances are the red stuff will have damaged seals in the system, AFAIK its not a case of just remove the old and put in the right stuff as permanent damage will have been done.

Do a search as this topic has been covered before

you might get away with a flush and refill of the roght oil, i have had a couple of audi's in the past that had the wrong oil in with no bad effects after draining and refilling with the correct oil.

Get it flushed by a specialist VW place including full depressurising of the bomb....then have it refilled with green and maybe flushed again.

This is unlikely to have caused total brake failure I think....but I have no idea what your garage did.
By putting totally teh wrong fluid in they have shown a lack of audi knowledge so they may have messed up the bomb install (or another part)

I would go to a new good garage and get them to do it.
Shouldnt have caused permanent damage in such a short time as I know a few people who have had red fluid in their car for a good while prior to them buying itand then they changed it and no problems since.

Now you will know. ATF systems may run on G 002, however older VAG systems used in audi 100/200 and probably in S2 are sensitive if the fluid was changed from G 002 to ATF.
