Not the wheel bearing - Taffy

Hi all had some work done recently for service / MOT

Thermostat, Cam belt, Cam pulley, V belts, Water pump, WGFV etc

all usual suspects.. but also included a wheel bearing as been having a hum on steering you get with that, but also when I throw it into a corner or when there is a dip in the road got a nasty loud hum.

After service all was good no bearing noise so was happy, but after a bit of driving I started testing and again got the really nasty noise, it still only seems to occur when cornering hard, is a very loud intense humming sound and lasts for a split second when the suspension is under strain.

    Any ideas peeps?

Also, funny story took a lambda sensor as well to be swopped out (all kit from VAG parts) and was advised that this wouldn't be needed.. but at the end when i asked for the fault codes to be checked there was only 1 fault..

    lamda sensor.. i did chuckle.

    anyhow ideas people?

just thought I'd reply to my own thread

Is this noise possibly wheel noise transferring up into my chassis, through old bushes perhaps (as i do need to change them)?

I think I need to find a place where I can see if it is happening when cornering anticlockwise.

(maybe I can go out and find a roundabout and pretend I'm abroad. I'm sure no one else is around )

Not sure whats happenned here instead of creating my own thread it seems I have just replied to S2drivers?..

Any how I think best bet is for me is to scrub buying some alloys and to sort out my problem get:-

      new wheel bearings all round
      wishbone bushes (superflex?) all round

that should sort it out, but 1 thing I appear to have forged bushes at the front and pressed at the rear, is that normal?

Also anyone know if superflex are making pressed wishbone bushes yet?

      Cheers all

Have you standard wheels on the car sounds like you have a buckled wheel, check your tyres for lumps or uneven wear, incorrect chamber setting

All rear arms are pressed there were no forged ones made.

Superflex make bushes for front and rear pressed wishbones but no bushes for the front forged wishbones.

            to KR-
Had the camber etc done on Friday was a bit out but not a huge amount will try swapping front and rear wheels to see if it is the wheel thats knackered (standard 16's)

Superflex webiste says the bush for the the forged arms ar "on hold"
so may have to go with powerflex, read alot on here about powerflex bushes being a bit sqeaky, any one know if thay have they sorted that out?

            cheers all

Funnily enough (or not ) Ive got the much the same thing at the moment. A loud hum I first noticed when coasting at around 60mph but which has got worse over the past week, particularly annoying during a 360 round trip to visit my cousin. I think its coming from the front passenger side, it comes and goes but will disappear briefly if I lightly dab the brake or slightly waggle the steering. Noticeably worse when Im bearing left and I can feel a vibration coming up through the brake pedal and also a little on the accelerator. Nothing at all at low speeds, no clicking on full lock.

I wondered if it was brake related after the monblocks but cant see anything catching at all. So it could be the wheel - one was repaired during the refurb and the tyres are getting low. Big problem is a 1000 mile trip planned for the family holiday in Cornwall More investigation today .

Superflex website hasn't been updated in 18 months, another forum member and myself have spoken to them and they have dropped all plans to make the bush for the forge arms due to "lack of business interest" as it's not commercially viable
