Steering pumps question

Guys,

How do you tell if the steering pump is shot or if this is a fixable problem.

Right the steering is getting slightly heavier and the pump is making a bit of a ticking noise at idle and a whining noise under load/revs.....

Any clues, is it a flush and refill of the hydro or is it a new pump jobbie????

P.S. Checked the belt tension and that is fine and it is also a new belt - about a month old.

Thats what I would do.....flush the system and refill it with the correct green hydraulic fluid and make sure it is right to the max marker....

or just top yours up if its low!
Mine did the same thing and a fluid top up cured it totally
If not the pump is on the way out I would say....

Ah right then the pump must be sha**** as the fluid level is still just under the max level. Will give the car a quick run this avo to see if it still does it before I do anything as I have noticed that some things seem to be capable of curing themselves before you get to the bottom of it....

Update, been for a drive this afternoon and hey presto not there any more. V.V.Strange... and a bit worrying!!!!!
