    H+R springs

Anyone know the difference between H+R S2 springs(estate) and H+R RS2 springs because the price is very different?

What do you base that on? That certainly wasn't my experience of H&Rs on my S2 coupe

The problem with H&R's is if you have the ones with the plastic cover over the coil (I remove it), moisture gets in underneath and rusts them.

I prefer to use H&R's as they work very well, those guys over the other side of the pond like to use Eibach's

I think the other difference is that the rs2 was 10mm lower than an s2, therefore would only need lowering by a further 15-20mm so that the wheels sit comfortably inside the arches.
An s2 however would need to be lowered by around 30mm to achieve the same stance
                I could be wrong????

As far as i know rs2 shocks bolt straight on to the avant and can be used with normal s2 springs so i don't see any problems reversing that and using the rs2 springs with s2 shocks. The rs2 shocks are also significantly cheaper than the s2 shocks for some reason?
I'm sure i read somewhere that the aby s2's were lower as standard than the 3b's by about 10mm maybe someone can confirm if the avants being aby's were the same ride height as the rs2 anyway? if so i definatly see no problem interchanging the shocks and springs in any combination.

If your just looking to lower the car you could always go the route of some of the chav's who live near me you just take a blowtorch to the springs and when they're hot you bounce up and down on the corner of the car until the car sits at the required level, the springs are now completely useless and your exhaust scrapes on the floor it seems to work on their old escort estates and must add at least 100BHP on the chav horsepower scale cause i seem to see more by the day

(Please note from a professional point of view as I work for the AA I in no way recommend anybody does this to their car it's highly dangerous for use on the road we used to do this to old banger racers as well as silly things like fill the wings with concrete and weld up the shocks. it makes for an interesting if stiff ride. )
