suspention cap, boot and stop buffer

    Hello,

I am upgrading my suspension very shorty to Bilstein Dampers and H&R Springs and was wondering what other parts need to be replaced.

Do you need to replace the Cap 431 412 047 B, Boot 431 412 135 and Stop Buffer 895 412 131? (see image) or are they supplied with new dampers?

Just about to place an order with VAGparts so would like to get it all in one go.

    Thanks in advance.

    Bo

Top mounts? The billies give a hard ride and will kill the standard topmounts, Well they would on the Isle Of Wight roads = pot holes

New shocks come with no additional parts.

I replaced these parts when I replaced my shocks, you could probably reuse (9) but they will be filthy. The stop buffers [Part (10)] were gubbed, and you can't go wrong with replacing the top mounts while your'e in there.

I'd also recommend that you buy replacement caps for the suspension tubes as these can get heavily corroded too. Part number 823 412 047

worth noting that the stock shaft on the damper is much thinner than the Bilstein one and that means your OEM bumpstop won't fit BTDT. I ended up running without, never had it travel far enough to thump anything.... Mine also came with different caps but again as far as i know the stock one's diameter will be different to the shaft diameter of the billie

Bilstein dampers have the bump stop built in. You get the protective rubber boot thingy with each shock also so you wont need to buy anything else.

                  What about the strut caps? No.8 in the diagram P/N 823 412 047 B.
They normally get wrecked by the big pair of stillsons. But is the same part used with the Bilsteins?

Sorry drifty, forgot to mention youre supplied with a new one of those aswell with each shock. Its different to the standard part, specific to bilstein

                      Cheers Sal.

So no extra parts needed really.
No bump stops, 'cause they don't fit.
No upturned plastic cups, 'cause they fit to the bump stops, or not in this case.
No strut cap, 'cause they're supplied with the new shocks.

Sorry Bo, I didn't read your post fully, making the assumption that you were replacing standard Boge shocks.
