  • Wishbone tightening torque

Having just replaced wishbone bushes, I checked the Erwin docs for the tightening torque for the bolts which secure the wishbone bolts to the subframe.

Spec stated is 40 Nm + 180 degrees. This is a massive torque and doesn't seem right.

My Bentley for 1988-1992 Coupes lists 40 Nm + 90 degrees.

Any idea which is right ?

My opinion is that it is not that critical. I just used "German torque" on mine - goot-n-tite.
No problems on two sets I installed after a combined 25k miles.

      Mike,

I'd agree with that! I got all mine to 40nm, then could manage no more than 1/4 turn on each one afterwards, they were locked solid at that torque.
