  • Wandering 3B...

It's a 1991 model, the rear end seems to steer the whole car, worse over uneven road. It's present all the time, but hit a road rut / join, the rear skips out.

Very unnerving, all wishbone bushes have been replaced, I doubt even worn dampers would cause these sympthons. I suspect worn top mounts, allowing the damper pistons to move within.

Any ideas guys, has anyone else experienced this?

Top mounts could be the culprit. Also check the tie rods that mount to the boot floor (as in the steering linkage on the front), i had a worn one which gave very unpredictable ride. And check the toe in too, if the rear is toed out things get very interesting

I had this after I fitted all my hubs, it was because my tracking was way out!

yep was going to say tracking too or soft rear tyres allowing some extra roll in corners which can feel very odd.

Hi, did you get this sorted?

I had same symptoms on mine back in early nov when i had 4 new tyres fitted. fine round corners, or on a completly smooth road, but any slight bumps or man hole covers and the whole thing jumped to one side.

Got tracking redone 6 weeks later cos the rear tyres were down to min wear indicators .

It was the toe/tracking on the rear which was out by 10mm.

It drives like on rails after set correctly.

i have these symptoms at the moment. is there any chance that running directional tyres at the front and aysmmetrical at the rear could increase the problem. I have run it like that previously with no issues but does seem real lively at the back and almost feels like there is a split second delay in response from the back to any corrections...

                      Just tracking or somthing else.....?
