    Cupped washer below spring plate

Today I went to assemble the front struts and I noticed I should have this cupped washer right below the spring plate. What is the purpose of this washer? I don't recall having any when I disassebled them.

Maybe someone who recently has worked on the front suspension can confirm that these washers should be there?

    Two pictures for reference

Hi, does anyone have the part number for these cupped washers as I've just found mine are missing?

Thanks for that. Had a trawl around the usual suppliers but no joy, does anyone on here have a pair they'd be willing to sell please??

I think the purpose of those washers is to protect the chrome on top of the strut as the top plates will move about a little whilst turning despite there being a bearing in the top mount.

I've worked on a lot of these cars and found them in place as well as missing, it doesn't seem to effect how they drive at all.

I've always reassembled struts with a washer on top with my own cars. Though in the case of them being missing I've simply used nice thick ones the same diameter as the strut, I don't think they have to be the special cupped Audi ones.

Thanks guys, I've certainly never noticed any problems but now I've read this thread I'd like to put some on. Might try the flat ones like you say unless Dave or another member has any kicking around.

Thanks. Love these cars but the NLA parts make doing anything very slow

Hi, I've managed to find new washers. I've got four coming (only need two) so if anyone needs a set PM me.
