S2 is off the road at the moment so I’m driving its temporary replacement, a 2016 S5. Went through a fairly deep puddle and about 2 weeks later the steering started making some nasty grinding noises when turning the wheels, even when stationary.
So ive stripped the electric rack and found it’s the bearing in the casing that holds it all together. New rack is silly money and a recondition service is still very expensive for what I know is the bearing.
Questions are:
anyone know where I can get a bearing? It’s not a standard bearing and there’s no bearing no stamped on it. The inner race extends as a tube which is a friction fit to the rack bar.
does anyone know who makes the rack for Audi?
any other ideas?
Thanks
Alistair
