Just about to book the coupe in for a 4 wheel align after doing shocks, balljoints and bushes, but have noticed the wheel bearing is starting to grumble a bit.
Would replacing the wheel bearing at a later date mess up the tracking settings? I cant see that it would as the steering links and ball joints will remain in place...
Cheers Guys. I will go ahead and get it tracked this weekend. When it comes to doing the bearing, i will mark off everything I can, and use supertyres free tracking check service afterwards.
Do they have proper 4wd alignment gear - like the machine from biersbath (spelt wrong) - they need to get camber, toe and castor settings right front and rear. Only the most patient operators on the best alignment rigs can do this properly - and only if all your joints are moving nicely. The rear toe adjusters are particularly bad for seizing up - the fronts aren't much better.
My advice to you is make sure you can get all these adjustment points moving and go out of your way to adjust them badly yourself just for the drive the alignment shop. That way they will feel obliged to adjust things into spec... Whereas if its 'close enough' they wont bother touching it.
I admit the name does conjure up images of a kwik fit style place, but they really are a very good and respected tyre/suspension and alignment centre. And only 5 mins down the road from me!
I was going to spend some of tonight WD40'ing and loosening the adjustment ponts.
Just to make sure on the front it will be steering track rod ends and the 3 ball joint bolts. On the rears, ball joint bolts and the big adjusters behind the wheels. Is that the lot?
