    Early S4 Servotronic disconnect?

Been reading about the benefits to feel and steering weight of disconnecting the Servotronic system, so I set out to give it a whirl on my S4.

According to ETKA my '93 S4 should have a relay in the box under the bonnet, but it looks like I've got the earlier style of relay box and the Servotronic relay ain't in there.

Does anywhere where I should be looking to either disconnect the Servotronic control unit, or pull the associated relay?

You can disconnect the S4 servotronic right at the steering rack. There is a connector very near the lash adjustment screw. Find a flashlight (torch) and have a look. Then reach in, squeeze the spring lock and pull the connector off. Drive for awhile and see how you like it.

I tried this 9 years ago on my "new" 93 S4 (in 1998) and found that all it did was make the steering heavier. It didn't provide more feel. Its a big car and it doesn't like to do ballet.

    YMMV
