Depends what you want from it. Is it your daily driver and what are the roads like were you'll be using it?

Personally I went for Bilsteins as part of my suspension upgrade. They are stiff though and combined with the other components used my suspension setup is not really suited to a daily driver. It's been said that I can adjust my suspension by changing the tyre pressures as the tyre walls are the only movement left in it

I've been in MattS2's Avant with stock springs and Koni dampers and although there is a lot more movement in the suspension than mine the handling is still very good and it is much better suited to country lanes etc.

It's all down to personal choice really.

You might consider RS2 OEM. Always a good balance of handling vs comfort. Some would say the best from Audi.
I went for koni just off softest settings (slightly firmer at back) which are fine everywhere except Edinburgh as the roads here are dire.

Shocks are a very personal thing- what some would rate as soft others would rate as rock solid.
If your planning to do a few trackdays etc..Adjustables are the best bet as you can tune them to your required style(on my golf i set the front midway and the rear full stiffness- gives it a nice oversteer character(bit like the 205's)but kills the rear tyres!!)
On my dear departed S2 i ran koni adjustables and H&R springs 40mm drop with 7.5x17(225/45 toyos) wheels, great for everyday use, nice when stiffened up for track work.
Try and get a ride in other peoples cars with different set ups as it a lot of cash to splash out for something that has been recommended, but you HATE!!!!!

Choose wisely and you will be rewarded , choose wrongly and you will be sent to burn in eternal damnation

Konis myself. OEM front spring, Stiffer rears.

The advantage of adjustables is that you can tweek it to match the spring you end up fitting, rather than a fixed shock which you find doesn't go with the oem or stiffer spring.

Dont get confused by thinking you just turn up the dials to full for a track setup, best achieved by a spring change and damper re tweek.

Ideally go for a spring/damper combo and if adjustable, make sure it is 'on car'.

As Ben said previously, I've got Koni's with standard springs. (+ RS2 ARB's)

Not sure how to adjust them though.........
I find this set up a bit soft and I'm thinking of putting H+R's on.

I've been in Ben's car and can only say that it is completely planted to the ground, and totally unforgiving to potholes. Very stable at speed though. :mischeif:
I'm actually booked in at the dentist for a loose filling (honestly).

His set up is focused for track use whereas mine seems a lot more suited to A + B roads.

As mentioned before, it is a very personal choice. I'm thinking Bilstiens, H+R's, and standard bushes

Suspension is a personal thing, i found stock springs and konis a great setup. H&R's do hold you back on really rough roads, but i think thats partly due to the reduced suspension travel.

The knob isn't on there full time, If you koni's are yellow they are adjustable if they are red they aint.

IIRC the S2 shocks have to be taken off to be adjusted

Most Koni sports you have to push the shaft in and twist to adjust. i.e. Take it out of the car.

AFAIK top adjustables were only for t89 models, S2 used different size front shocks.

I think I've had all combo's of shocks on an S2

See this thread for my views http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21458

All depends if it's an everyday driver or not.

Everyday Koni and standard springs, weekend / track car the Bilstein n H&R combo rock for handling and planting the S2 to the ground.
