    Bilstein for RS2

    Hello all,
i just bought off lupo a set of bilsteins he had(slightly used) with the following part numbers:
    Front: BE3-3086
    Rear: BE3-2622

The front, you all know it is the sport bilstein that they offer for S2/RS2
The rear is the intruiging one.It comes from an A4 quattro sedan B5 early models, that according to lupo(carsten) it fits the B4 sedan/avant quattro with NO modifications!
Im pleased at that, only i have a question. These rears are sprint shocks, not sport, and i wish to use them on OEM springs.
What will the overall image and ride of the car will be?After reading posts about the sprint/sport bilstein shocks posted here and elsewhere im wondering if the shocks i bought will make the car sit lower at the rear, for one,and then if the ride will be compromised due to the use of OEM springs.

I dont want to use other than OEM springs,so i would like to hear your opinions. In case this doesnt work, there is always the solution of the S4 rear sport shock(BE3-6212) which needs the modification.

    cheers
    Vasilis

You can use the S4 rear sport shock without modification. They difference between B4 and B5 platforms is that the lower spring plate is 20mm higher on the B5.

maRS2 detailed how to modify them in his thread but I have them fitted on my Avant without modification. The result is that the rear sits very slightly higher. It is barely noticable unless you are looking for it and personally I don't mind this but it is all down to personal taste.

        thanks Ben,
i have read maRS2 thread, but i was wondering if anyone had any input on the use of sprint shocks on oem springs without lowering, what would the effect be for one,and then if anyone had any experience with the BE3-2622 shock before for rear

presumably, since bilstein suggests that sprint and sport have the same characteristics in handling,i can understand that the difference is in total height of the shock absorber.SO in essence fitting sprint with OEM springs would suggest that the absorber would reach it's limit on extreme occasions sooner than the spring.right?

What effect can that have in the springs life wavelegth or the shocks lifespan?
