G002000 is dealer only. It's not that expensive (retail is £6.49+VAT a litre)

GSF buy it from dealers or on the continent. You'd be amazed who buys what from where. I have some very big aftermarket parts suppliers that buy in bulk from me. Some other non VAG franchise dealerships buy from me and then sell on to the same aftermarket suppliers.

        An example without naming names:

I sell the nuts that are included in certain aftermarket wheel bearing kits to a big aftermarket supplier. I sell the bolts that will go in these kits to a peugeot dealer who then sells them to the aftermarket supplier.

The cap (part no: 8A0 422 377 A) is only used on vehicles with hydraulic systems. i.e no hydraulic brake servos.

Audi 80 V6's mainly and S2's of course.

There's a proper replacement fluid made by Febi that you probably can buy from "Halfords". The bottle says "for: audi, bmw, citroen". Red cap for synthetic and green for mineral.

I did try Halfords today and was handed a Slick 50 PAS/transmission bottle?(i think it was just an additive)
Im not sure what the general consensus here where slick50 is concerened(ive always liked the stuff personally but *if its so good why dont the manufacturers use it* is a good argument),it wasnt what i was looking for,and i dont know if it will mix.

The Slick50 stuff sounds dodgy. Halfords do indeed do the appropriate stuff, it's labelled as hydraulic fluid for Citroen - but it's the same. I think.

Don't take my word for it though!

In the US i get hydraulic fluid made by Pentosin. the Pentosin 11S is an equivalent replacement for G00200, and is a synthetic base

                          sells for around $20/liter

as someone else mentioned there is also a mineral based hydraulic fluid mfg. by Febi, which is a bit cheaper.

                            @rob,

I work with ETKA all day. Not sure how the missus would feel if I moved into a PDA 24/7 She already moans that I work too hard.

As we get told at work: You're here 'cause you're the top one per cent of all VAG partsmen. You're the elite, the best of the best.

That must be why were stuck in a portacabin in the corner of an aircraft hanger in the middle of nowhere

As for different manfs. of PAS fluid. I only use the genuine stuff for peace of mind (and because it's cheap, especially for me). I've seem some cars have their entire PAS systems replaced because the wrong fluid was used.

Only my personal opinion of course.

I confess on cheaper cars i have had(also darn site easier to work on i wouldve used the slick 50,i dont need to screw this PAS up,as i need the funds to get to semi RS2 level far more important

@Ben well if your only in a portacabin, howz about the innards of a large mainframe? see what being ELITE does for ya
